COMMITMENT
Legatrad is a team of professional translators, who each have more than 20 years' experience in their various specialities and language combinations. Legatrad began with mainly legal and certified translation and has grown and expanded into all kinds of texts. We handle all kinds of formats and most language combinations through a large network of specialist contacts.
At Legatrad our work is based on the following principles:

SERVICES
LEGAL AND CERTIFIED TRANSLATION
Sworn, certified or official translation. In many countries translations must be certified by a sworn translator in order to be regarded as valid by official bodies.
Sworn Translators are authorised to translate from a foreign language into an official language of the country and vice versa.
Documents that generally have to be translated by a sworn translator for authorisation or recognition purposes include:
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- Wills
- Criminal record certificates
- Notarial documents, powers of attorney
- Divorce decrees
- Patents
- Adoption files
- Private contracts
- Company registry and registry office records
- Court claims and judgments
- Articles of association
- Auditors’ reports
- Marriage, birth, marital status and death certificates
- Company accounts
By their very nature these documents must be treated with the utmost confidentiality. At Legatrad we guarantee that the documents and the data they contain will never be disclosed to unauthorised third parties.
MARKETING, ADVERTISING AND PR
Written information is vital for companies in the modern world. The company’s image and the success of its PR, advertising and marketing strategy largely depend on it. Texts must be correct, consistent, high quality and effectively communicate with the audience the message is intended for. The same goes for translated versions, which should read as if they were the originals.
After all the effort that goes into producing your adverts, internal communications, e-mails and press releases and making them create a good impression, a poor quality or poorly adapted translation can wreck your advertising campaign or business strategy. A literal translation is very risky for these kinds of texts. The message needs to be adapted to the target language.
At Legatrad we have translators who specialise in this field, are well-acquainted with the target market’s culture and can produce a creative translation of your copy so the message has the desired effect.
LITERARY AND AUDIOVISUAL TRANSLATION
Literary and audiovisual translators have to be well-educated people with a great knowledge of the culture and language of the original and the translation.
Literary translations are of great cultural importance and require special cultural awareness. Not all translators feel able to undertake this kind of translation. Our literary and audiovisual translators meet all of these requirements and have extensive experience in the publishing and audiovisual industries.
TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC TRANSLATION
Accuracy and precision are key for this kind of translation. It is essential to consistently use the right terminology throughout the text.
The translator must first read and understand the technical text, which is impossible without understanding the speciality. They then have to produce the technical translation, which requires not just competent writing skills, but also accurate knowledge of the technical jargon and new developments, as well as extensive language knowledge.
At Legatrad we have translators who specialise in medical, technical and software translation.
INTERPRETING
We have a large network of professional interpreters who specialise in:
- Simultaneous interpreting: the interpreter translates without the speaker waiting for what they have said to be translated before continuing. This kind of interpreting tends to be performed in a booth in settings such as conferences when there is a large audience.
- Liaison interpreting: this is used when there are a small number of people in a meeting and the interpreter translates what each speaker says in either language.
- Consecutive interpreting: the person speaking waits for what he/she has said to be translated before continuing. This technique tends to be used for courses or presentations.
- Legal interpreting: giving evidence in court, making a statement to a notary public, a marriage ceremony, or any other legal procedure involving people who do not speak the local language. (See the section on Legal Translation)
RATES, PAYMENT AND DELIVERY
At Legatrad we tailor our fees to each project as we realise that every job is different. When producing a quote we take into account factors such as the languages involved, the total number of words, how specialised the text is, the deadline and the format, etc. Get in touch, tell us about your project and we will send you a quote tailored to your needs.
For small jobs we charge a minimum fee. However, we do not charge this minimum for regular customers for whom we frequently provide very short translations (e-mails, internal communication, etc.) Let us know if you think that will be the case and we can arrange a customised price plan.
We generally charge 30% of the total price up front for new customers. The rest is invoiced on delivery and payable net 30 days. The usual form of payment is by bank transfer, but we also accept payments by Paypal, Bizzum and cash. Consult us for other payment methods.
Certified translations have to be stamped and signed by the sworn translator, so they must be delivered on paper. We deliver them free of charge anywhere in Spain within 24 hours if the price of the translation is over €100.
